One of the main projects we support is the Bon Samaritain (Good Samaritan) Orphenage project. They have 23 children that are from many of the surrounding areas of Les Cayes. The orphanage was founded in 1999 by Marie Genaise Jules.
She is a devoted and hard working individual who really cares about the children. She is constantly looking for ways to impact and improve the lives of the children. She tells everyone they are her kids and she loves them dearly.
Those are children who would never be able to attend school and have a decent meal on a daily basis. Many of them would not be alive had it not been for Marie Genaise. Because of the nurturing she gives them, the kids are full of love and zest for life.
They express it everyday through songs and religious hymns. All of them serve the Lord. They pray and read their Bible everyday.
It cost a lot of money by their standards to support those kids. Their daily challenges are many.
Marie Genaise often time can’t meet her financial obligations. Many of the people that used to help her are not unable to keep their commitment because the recent financial crises around the world.
It cost only $2,500 to house and provide shelter for the kids. But every year it’s a struggle to pay the lease.
The situation right now is very hard. Places like Les Cayes and other remote cities are experiencing a huge spike in food prices. We are calling on everyone to make a donation of at least $10 to help support Bon Samaritain.
